Audio Technica ATH-G1WL Review
While Audio Technica ATH-G1WL is a leader in the audio business, it does provide some of the best gaming headsets. One of these headphones is the ATH-G1WL for streamers. The earphones are the 2nd line of top gaming headphones available on the market today.
Audio Technica ATH-G1WL Design
The ATH-G1WL has a similar design as the M50x range with the same size, shape, and weight. However, the two do have some differences. The earcup is oval-shaped with a blue ring around the logo and looks fabulous. Furthermore, the construction is plastic it would have been nice to have aluminum yokes instead. One of the most radical changes you find in the headband of bare metal with all the screws exposed giving it an industrial look. In between the adjustment bands you have a mix of black and silver. Furthermore, it has a leatherette pad at the crest that makes it comfortable for long gaming sessions. Moreover, it is curved and does not come in contact with your head. To add to the features, you have no echo through the frame if ever you do bump it making them a pleasure to use. The headband is flexible without making creaking sounds.
You can adjust the ear cups for a comfortable fit and covered with leatherette. With the fabric design, we did not find our ears warming up. On the other hand, the earcups rotate to rest them on your chest. The only thing we do not like is the wires that are exposed and can become damaged if snagged. On the head, it is lightweight at 297 grams compared to other gaming headsets. So you can enjoy an eight-hour gaming session without the headset hurting your head.
Another fantastic thing is you can use the headphones for video editing sessions as well. To make it even a better selling point, the earphones wireless, offering you the freedom to move around as well. Unfortunately, the operating time is only 15-hours, but should be enough for a long gaming session. For charging it has a USB Type-C port without fast charging, but you can use it while charging.

Audio Technica ATH-G1WL Performance
To connect the headphones, you need a 2.4GHz dongle as it does not work with Bluetooth. Therefore, you can get some added bandwidth for the best wireless experience. Compared to other wireless headsets, you get a full and rich sound. You have loads of bass with detail in the mids and highs. Even the frequency response range is extensive from 5 to 4 kHz.
Furthermore, the dongle also works as a sound card to deliver 7.1 virtual surround sounds. Once you press the button, you get a more prominent and bass sound with the best stereo imaging. You find all the controls on the left earcup with buttons for monitoring the sidetone and muting the microphone. By pressing the volume roller you can activate the surround sound. The only disappointment we found is that there is no 3.5mm jack to use with other devices. Therefore, it is a big drawback when considering the price.
Where Audio Technica makes up for the loss, they provide you with the best wireless microphone instead. Therefore, you can use the mic for streaming media, podcasts, or do some light voice with the headphones. However, the mic does not do a fantastic job at filtering out ambient noise and best to type lightly on your keyboard. When compared to the M50x, you quickly notice the ATH-G1WL is fine-tuned for gaming.
The highs are lifted, and the bass is perfect for battle rollers and shooters. The mids are a bit recessed but not in such a way that it makes it difficult to hear. You can pinpoint enemies in chaotic times while the stereo imaging is excellent. Even listening to music it works great but is a bit sharp.

Should You Buy it?
Yes, the Audio Technica ATH-G1WL is one of the best gaming headsets you can buy. You can wear them for hours that are how comfortable they are to wear. The sound is rich and great for remaining competitive in your game as the microphone is the best in its class. However, it would be great if you could connect the EQ profiles to your phone.
If you are looking for the best wireless gaming headset, the Audio Technica ATH-G1WL comes highly recommended. With the RF connection, we found no lag in the audio, and it does not sound compressed. While the earphones made for gaming, you can use it for listening to music on your Mac or PC. Furthermore, while the headphone will not help console gamers it is a great option for PC gamers. On the other hand, during our test, the ATH-G1WL even knocks the M50x out of the park. However, if you are not looking for wireless connectivity for gaming you can consider the Beyerdynamic Custom Game as well. These headsets are also comfortable and equipped with exceptional microphones that cost less.

With the great sound, you watch your back cautiously and keep pace with your most vigorous opponents, always giving a surprise entry. This feature gives an added advantage to you because there is only one task to focus on and involving you totally in the game.
When lost in that intense game, your headphone should sit on your head just right. Some games may take hours of your time, and during this time, it is not convenient for you if they are heavy on your head. When gaming with a comfortable headphone on your head, you do not realize the long hours that have passed, thus making comfort key. When playing with that ill-fitted ear cups or headband, it always leads to exhaustion much faster. It goes without doubt that comfortable gaming headphones are a must. When having that comfortable headphone on, it gives you an upper hand while playing. Without that comfortable gaming headphone, it might, at times, always bring you down in a battle.
4. Retractable Mic
Effective communication with your teammates is essential when gaming. One best thing about gaming headphones is that they have that boom mic, which is always an advantage. It is because the boom mic enables you to give that clear sound. After all, it cancels any external noises. Due to this feature, your teammates hear your loud and clear when giving those directions. The mic gives you the option to use it when you need it and put it out of your way when you do not need it. Another feature, you can also switch it off or on depending on the gaming headphone that you prefer as your choice.
5. Quality and Design
Quality make is the determiner of how long the gaming headphones will serve you. A frequently used headphone should have a high quality make that will protect it from tear and wear. The material should also be sturdy such that it expands conveniently, and you cannot worry about breaking. If the headphones are wired, they should have a sturdy wire reinforced to ensure the internal cables are not affected. The design of your gaming headphones also determines its life. That perfect fit design ensures that you do not strain when fitting the headphones on your head. The design to fit any head size is always a consideration to make before acquiring a gaming headphone.
Gaming headphones should have compatibility with most of your devices. Before acquiring a gaming headphone, it is best to find one that is compatible with multiple of your devices, whether through wired or Bluetooth connection. Avoid the purchase of headphones that may require complicated software for them to work with your devices. Convenient compatibility is always a choice to consider for your headphones.
Your gaming headphones are best when wireless. Going wireless is a cool add-on such that your movements are not limited and also no worries for wire protection. Life is convenient without wires all over. Wireless gaming headphones tackle the problem of annoying wires. Wireless connectivity helps you focus on the game entirely and give you maximum movements when in the game. Unlike wired headphones, wireless headphones create more room for use. Bluetooth being the wireless connection mode, ensure that it is compatible with most of your devices that have Bluetooth features.
8. Easy storage
Most gaming headphones are compatible with your devices. When traveling, it is always heartbreaking when leaving these sound tools behind. To avoid buying different types of headphones, buy gaming headphones that are easy to store and can be carried around easily. The worry of breaking and bulk appearance is the main worry. This fear is eliminated if the headphones have a foldable design or have a storage kit for easy carry around or storage.
If the headphones are wired only as of the option, there only two types of connectors. One is the USB port and a 3.5mm jack. The 3.5mm jack is the most common and can be used in many devices such as desktops, laptops, mobiles, or smart TVs. 3.5mm jacks are analog connectors; thus, the sound quality depends on the built quality. The USB ports are digital connectors and are designed for audio-only. The USB connectors give superior sound quality than a 3.5mm connection.
With the above factors, they will help you have the right information about the gaming headphone to buy. Gaming, while having the right headphone as your tool, will give you a continuous gaming experience without external disruptions. You will always be ahead of your opponents, such that you hear their every move. Total concentration will be your added advantage, and the sound quality delivered is appealing. Because there is prolonged use of gaming headphones, comfort should be your all way company. The above considerations should guide you on buying the right gaming headphone. Enough knowledge of the gaming headphone is a critical requirement before buying a headphone.
