Plantronics Voyager 6200 UC Review
For one of the best business headphones comprising a hip-hop beat, the Plantronics Voyager 6200 UC is the one to have. The neckband headset has earbuds dedicated to making calls. However, when you have them on, they do not sound business-like at all. The headphone has a treble boost as well but is that all it has to offer. Please read our full report here on the Voyager 6200 UC.
Plantronics Voyager 6200 UC Design
The business-ready Bluetooth headphones you receive in a no-frills package. You get a soft zippered carrying case with two extra pairs of ear tips. Furthermore, you get the micro USB cable with a charging cradle and a wireless USB receiver. The soft-to-touch case is excellent and you can buy the headset in black and sand. Moreover, you can buy it in black with the latest USB-C type cable as well. The neckband has a lightweight, flexible design. Placing the headphones around your neck feels comfortable with the rubberized coating preventing it from sliding around. The problem we did have is getting a tight seal with the included ear tips. While you get three pairs of tips, they did not stay secure in the ear. The problem is when you walk or jolt your head; you get a sound leak that diminishes the sound.
What did make it better is using the Bose ear tips with a similar design? With the wings on it we blocked out most of the sound. Now, do not get us wrong; the included tips may work for you. Getting back to the design you get a multifunction button to call up the voice assistant. Above, you find the volume control that is easy to use. Furthermore, once you reach the max a voice notifies you. Pressing the power button for two seconds enters the pairing mode. On the opposite side of the multifunction switch, you have another button to toggle audio and stereo. For activating the noise-canceling you have a separate button. Lastly, it has omnidirectional microphones that pick up your voice without background noise.
More on the software!
To prevent hearing loss with prolonged use, Plantronics implemented “SoundGuard Digital Technology.” The software protects your hearing when exceeding 118 dBA. On the other hand, the headphones attempt to counteract loud pan pangs as well with the G616 anti-startle. Furthermore, your IT department can also control the headset with the Plantronics Manager Pro sold separately. So your IT department can control the firmware updates remotely to gain access to the device usage.
Moreover, without the added expense, you can download the Plantronics Hub to customize general settings on the device, as well. Charging the battery takes up to half-an-hour and provides you with up to 16-hours of playback with 9-hours talk time. You get 14 days standby time, as well. However, with ANC activated, you get up to 10-hours use. For the battery status you hold the power switch for two seconds.Compared to some other neckband styled Bluetooth headphones you can only use this one wired. On the other hand, you get up to 98 feet of movement and works well.
Plantronics Voyager 6200 UC Performance
For making calls, the Voyager 6200 UC has four microphones to optimize the voice while alleviating ambiance noise. However, when tested we could find no difference compared with the Bose On-ear Headset. What’s more, you can connect up to two devices using the headphones. You can also pair it with up to eight devices and is excellent for office use. Therefore, there is no more wasting time to connect to two devices at the same time.
While the Voyager 6200 UC is for the office you can use it on the go as well. During our commute by train the headset is okay. The headphone tames low frequencies quickly but does falter with vocals. We did find it performs well with passive noise isolation, but you do need the right ear tip fit. When activating the active noise-canceling, it does improve the sound.
- So how does it handle music?
In honesty, pretty well, and depends on what you are listening. The headset separates major and minor keys to emphasize the treble over the bass.
Whether it is a drum, trumpet, or piano, it does an excellent job of reproducing the sound without overpowering the harmonies. The vocals come through clear, and the final bars attractive.
- More on the ANC
During a flight, the Plantronics lowers the engine roar making it sound like a low rumble. However, as it is an office workhorse it cannot lower high frequencies higher than an air conditioner in your office. Even sitting across noisy kids on a flight becomes more bearable.

- ANC can struggle a bit with mid and high frequencies
Should You Buy It?
Yes, if you are an office worker, you will love the features of the Voyager Bluetooth headset. With the noise-cancellation you can work in peace as the rest of the office goes on, as usual, making a noise. You can use it for Skype as the ANC eliminates external noise. Furthermore if you are at reception the headset informs you when speaking and is not accidentally muted. When you receive an incoming call the headphones vibrate.
With the latest price reduction, the Plantronics Voyager 6200 UC headset is worth buying. While the noise-canceling does struggle at time to remove daily chatter it reduces ambient room noise well. Therefore, you will not hear the hum of the AC or refrigerator whizzing away in the background. Even the connectivity that is dependable deserves buying these earphones. For business use, it works excellent to Skype or uses it in the reception area as well. On the other hand, you get a two-in-one option for business and on the go. Lastly, the earphones can improve on the noise-canceling with higher frequencies but still works well in multiple environments.
