Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless Review
Do you need a decent budget wireless headphone for less-critical listeners? If you are, we recommend you look at the Skullcandy Hesh 2. The wireless sounds good, and it has a decent battery life with a comfortable fit. Furthermore, the remote/mic works well, and they cost less than Beats or Bose on-ear headphones.
Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless Design
Like most Skullcandy headphones, the Hesh 2 wireless has a chunky design. You can buy the Hesh 2 in different colors to fit in with your lifestyle, as well. You have the option of getting a black with metallic highlights or white with brown pads and gold highlights. The construction of the earphone is plastic. Even the leather feels like the plastic used on the cans while they look like head-huggers, we found it comfortable to wear. The earpads have a round shape, and parts of it rest on the ears instead of around it. With the mid-to-firm pressure in the headband that is not soft, it does end up looking uncomfortable.
Here the highlight of the design is the wireless connectivity with an entry-level price. Furthermore, the battery lasts up to 15-hour, and you have a built-in mic for making calls. On the one earcup, you have big buttons to alter the volume. Moreover, we did have some wireless problems in certain areas, especially in an office where you have loads of tech. However, they are reliable compared to other brand wireless pairs. Alternatively, you can use it wired as well with the included cable. Another highlight is the excellent noise isolation, and you can wear them non-stop for up to 45-minutes without getting tired.
You get a three-button remote with a multifunction button to power the headphones on or off. You can use the same button to answer/make calls and easy to operate. Though, one thing we did not like is the placement of the micro USB charging port. The port is hidden away on the left can making it hard to reach, but the fact that it is discrete is a bonus. Where Skullcandy does make up for service is the fantastic two-year warranty included with the charging cable and removable aux cable.
Skullcandy Hesh 2 Performance
The headphone sounds good for an affordable price. The earphone is well-balanced with reasonable bass push. However, it is not overwhelming. Furthermore, it is on the warmer end when it comes to the audio spectrum and can be a bit soft. You do get enough detail to prevent it from sounding muddy. While we did not find it a thrilling earphone bringing out the best in music, it remains an excellent buy depending on your acoustic taste. Using the Hesh 2 with poorly recorded tracks, it will smooth out the audio poorly. Furthermore, it does work well with streaming services. When used in the wired mode, you get a different listening experience with more treble and bass. Therefore, it sounds more excited, with more edge to it.

What we do not like:
- The design is generic
Should You Buy It?
Yes, if you need an affordable Bluetooth over-ear headphone. While it may not make your tunes sparkle, it still has a decent sound for a wireless model. The headphone is comfortable for wearing for hours, and it is well built. But if you do want a more prestige pair of headphones and money, we recommend you spend it on the Bose SoundLink instead.
The Skullcandy Hesh 2 wireless offers you a reasonable sound for the price. You do get a deep bass with crisp trebles depending on the recordings you listen to. The sound isolation is excellent even without active noise cancellation. The durability is impressive as we have dropped the headphones sometimes during our testing. Furthermore, you get a soft carry case to keep the earphones protected when not used. The beautiful thing is you can use it wired or wireless, but we found the former sounds a bit better. Another problem we did find is that they can become a bit hot around the ears, but overall we are pleased with the product for the price point.
